What this lookup tells you
An IP address identifies a network endpoint, not a person. This tool asks an IP data provider for approximate location and network ownership. For your own connection, Cloudflare request metadata can provide a fallback when the external lookup is unavailable. Every report includes its source and query time.
Leaving the input empty checks the public address seen by this website. If you use a VPN, mobile carrier gateway or corporate proxy, that will usually be the exit address rather than your device’s private address. A router’s 192.168.x.x address cannot be located through a public IP database.
Reading reputation signals
VPN, proxy, Tor, data-center and abuse indicators are separate observations. A data-center address is not automatically malicious. A VPN address can belong to a legitimate privacy service. A negative flag means the source did not flag that address; it does not prove that the address has never been used in an unwanted way.
Unknown means no usable data. ipapi.is supplies basic ownership and location. A separate proxycheck.io lookup supplies available VPN, proxy, Tor and hosting indicators, plus its own risk score. Anonymous free quotas are limited, and exhausted services are shown as unavailable. The interface shows missing fields as unknown instead of turning them into false or a perfect cleanliness score. A provider outage or exhausted quota also remains visible.
There is no universal IP cleanliness score shared by websites. Services use their own lists, behavioral history, account context and regional rules. This report cannot predict whether an account will pass a review or whether a particular website will accept a connection. Treat the signals as evidence to investigate, not a guarantee.
Location accuracy
City and region are estimates about an address allocation or observed network. They can point to an ISP’s gateway, a company office or a data-center region rather than the actual device. Mobile networks and recently reassigned ranges are especially likely to differ from a user’s physical location. The report deliberately avoids suggesting an exact home address.
Privacy and exports
The queried address is sent from our server to the listed data source. Lookup reports are not automatically saved into your account. Copy JSON or download a report if you want a local record. Shared reports can reveal a public network address and approximate location, so check their contents before forwarding them.
For DNS answers, open DNS Lookup. The network diagnostics guide explains why DNS answers, IP ownership and website reachability are different questions. Provider behavior is documented by ipapi.is and proxycheck.io. The displayed risk value belongs to proxycheck.io’s model; it is not a percentage chance of fraud and is not converted into a made-up cleanliness rating.
